about
My son Ruben (10) wrote this song for our community group Bigton Collective. We are doing a dancing challenge this December and we needed a catchy song to learn some dance steps! Line dancing is the perfect Covid-friendly dance style and our neighbours Jamie and Myleen helped us learn some basic steps. The members of the Bigton Band added some instrumental layers and have been working out how to sign the lyrics.
Ruben has recently discovered digital recording and he programmed the whole track himself and came up with the hook line for the chorus. The rest of the lyrics were a collective effort, inspired by the first robin of the season we spotted on the fence outside. Ruben was a bit shy to sing on the track himself but he thought he would give it a go and we're so glad he did!
Hope you like the song and have a go at dancing, singing or signing along :)
If you would consider buying the song, all proceeds will be donated to Bigton Collective xx
lyrics
What would you like
For a gift this Christmas time?
Close your eyes and make a wish
And I will tell you mine
It’s been so long
Since we've danced without a care
Underneath the starry sky
I’d love to meet you there
Now this year is done
We’ll be hoping for a better one
I hope that we can dance this Christmas
I’ve been waiting for this moment all year
I hope that we can dance this Christmas
I’ll be dancing with you my dear
I thought of you
When I saw a Robin today
Flying strong through winter winds
We've had to find our way
I’d like to try
To help you fly
Help you fly
Help you fly
Now this year is done
We’ll be hoping for a better one
I hope that we can dance this Christmas
I’ve been waiting for this moment all year
I hope that we can dance this Christmas
I’ll be dancing with you my dear
